Verbs are Doing Words

Verbs are doing words.
So just how do you go about writing a cook book? When it seem s that every one from plumbers to students of the Arts get ther oportunity to perform their culinary tricks on reality TV shows and if they last the 13 weeks they can win an education a degree and a lifestyle in Cooking.
“How long have you been Chefing?” Cheffing? It’s such a non word I’m not even sure how it should be spelt. Of course its right up there with the dinner party comments like “I’ve done waitressing!” or “My husband is a wonderful chef you should just see him on the BBQ!” Indeed verbs are doing words and words can be bent to encompass the passions, the indulgences and even the “if onlys”.
You are not necessarliy … just because you enjoy or just because you succeed at a few dinner party experiments; having said that if you truly have a passion or find yourself day dreaming of a life better spent at the culinary edge, that border between “she makes a great lasagne “and “this is all I want to do” then maybe if you are prepared to take the plunge you can embark on the journey that ends in CHEF.
Indeed verbs are doing words and Chefs are Cooking People (obviously not physically cooking their fellow man and such) but a pride of passionate dedicated individuals who will not stop at throwing out the meal that didn’t quite cut it and suffering not the fool who religously salts his food before tasting. Whilst even the most passionate of us has their gastronomic idiosyncrasies we’ll explore in the following pages the history, the passion and a plethora of recipes in which the real magic lay with the great minds who dared split the yolk from the white and whisk them with castor sugar , mix the affore mentioned yolk with a little Grand Marnier, Crème patissire and melted dark courveture fold the two unlikey bedfellows together and bake in a lightly sugared vessel to produce the hedonism of the pefect Chocolate souffle.
We may dispense with a few of the modern unwashed variety whose creativity lies within their lack of command of the classic, their P Plate testorerone confidence and their dirty tea towell over the shoulder (because they don’t know how to tie a kerchief) type attitudes. Granted some of the moderns have a wonderful sense of adventure with flavour but if they can’t keep themselves clean I’m sure not eating it!
Stay with me as we rediscover some of the greats, dispell some of the mystery and pay due respect to the things that make this consuming passion of cooking one of the most wonderful uses of time, one of the best marriage of passions and as history has shown us one of the greatest legacies we have to pass on.
We are never so interested in the ones that tell us what to do, as much as we are in indebted to the few who actuallty do.
Yes verbs are doing words, pay attention to the ones who do.
