Like to an almond tree ymounted hye
On top of greene Selinis all alone,
With blossoms brave bedecked daintily;
Whose tender locks do tremble every one,
At everie little breath, that under heaven is blowne.
- Edmund Spenser, The Faerie Queene
(bk. I, canto VII, st. 32)
My little almond tree is barely 3 feet tall, but in a taste of years to come, is a mass of glowing, white blossoms.
Such a joyful sight during these grey and rainy days.
